| Sharon, I have now named you the guardian "hair" angel. When I was diagnosed with cancer and told I would be undergoing chemotherapy and that I was going to lose my hair it just seemed like another reminder of what I was going to face. I had received the names of several places that I could contact about my "new" hair. I visited four of those places and cannot tell you my frustration at their lack of helping me find the right hair. I was told several times that I would not be able to match my hair color and to remember that my hair was thick and that nothing they could find would be the same. All I wanted was something close to my color and style. I had already accepted that it would not be exact, but it seemed like I should be able to get close. After several visits and not finding anything that was me I was given your name on a new list of places to contact. I first went to your website and after reading realized that you really get it. That was further reinforced when I first talked to you. You made arrangements to come and see me that same week, which happened to be 2 days after Christmas. You were kind and compassionate and made it your goal to help me find something. Well one week later I had the perfect "new" hair. Color, style ,everything about it was what I had been looking for. When I think back on this experience, my only regret is that I did not have your name first. Thank you from the bottom of my hearty. Kathy (Westminster) |

Dear Sharon, You have made such a difference in so many lives. I was already grateful for the happiness you brought to my patients and to their parents, and then you blew me away with your generosity and thoughtfulness during Spa Day. Thank you for your long drive and dragging your treasure chests(full of goodies) through the snow storm. I am also sending you a huge thank you for making the girls feel so special and beautiful. I've heard many stories since Spa Day, about how wonderful it was and how much they liked the hair. Lauren is still thrilled with her new look plus, you gave us all a lift from seeing her look (and feel) so spectacular. It was really a lucky day for us when you made your first call, and I appreciate how much you've given us.I am also glad I know you. With regards, Lynn (Chilrens National Medical Center) |

Hi Sharon, First of all, the comfort band has made a huge difference and I can wear my wig all day now ! Also had to share some stories. I was waiting in line at the gas station and a woman that was standing behind me leaned over to tell me "I had beautiful hair"! Then I was in the nail salon , and one of the customers started asking me about my hair color and hi-lites, and what did I use !! It does make me smile ! They also complimented the wig at chemo treatment last week, so I told Donna where I got it. She did remember seeing Crowning Alternatives and found your business card for future recommendations. Only this time she made a notation on it. Thanks again for everything ! Vicki (Laurel, Maryland)
Hi Sharon, Thank you so much. I can't express to you the difference in my life. I have never had a wig like this I absolutely love it. Not only am I a total Alopecia patient for almost 30 years, I am also recovering from a stroke. I have come a long way in recovery. I still have a hard time saying or explaining what I'm trying to say. I also have a hard time understanding what is said to me. You took your time with me and answered my questions to where I could understand. Sharon you are the right person for this job. As long as I've had this disease no one has taken the time to explain how and what I need to do to take care of it. I didn't know anything about how to style hair. Sharon you are the right person for this job, we were meant to meet. Helen (Riverdale, Maryland) |

Sharon Words cannot adequately express my thanks to you for how easy you made it for me to go wig shopping. Next to chemo, this was probably the thing I was dreading most. You made me feel completely comfortable and relaxed ; you even made it fun, You turned a day that I thought I would spend crying into one that was much more bearable and almost painless ! Thanks again ! Connie (Skysville, Md.) |

Thank you for your email it was also my pleasure to have worked with such an artist as yourself...you may not consider yourself an artist, but being able to turn someone as myself into what you did was amazing. I want to thank you from the bottom of my heart. Also thank you for putting time and effort into helping me get a wig ,and to help me find the right wig too. My family was very pleased with the wig, they thought it was very cute, and fit me well. I hope you and your family have the best holiday too. I hope you get everything you wished for. Sharon, I can't thank you enough for helping me with getting a wig. What I thought would be a very difficult experience turned out to be fun. You truly have a gift for what you do. You make a person feel special and pretty when they really feel the opposite. Thank you so much for your help. Julie (Westminster, Md.)

Hi Sharon, Thanks SO much for coming out to help me pick a wig. That was such a fun time! It means a lot to someone diagnosed with cancer to have the privacy and someone with your experience to help choose the right wig. Having an arbitrary opinion was really helpful. I wore my wig to Walmart yesterday to but hair coloring that matches so I can dye my hair one more time before it falls out. Thanks again and I hope you have agreat weekend! Judy (Manchester) |

| Hi Sharon, I popped my wig on and was sitting in the family room...a bit dark since it was 4pm and snowy out...my husband came through the room, sat across from me and eventually asked my why my hair was so dark...So...(I still haven't pointed out it was a wig)...I said maybe I wanted to darken it a bit (he was with me when I picked up hair color last week). He said "what did the kids say?" (meaning the kids at school). I said I hadn't colored it before school. The kids and I like to see how long it takes for him to notice things. So, I'll give him credit for noticing the color change... I had to take the wig off to add a log to the fire...(so far he hasn't noticed I am back to a lighter color or style change) Thanks for your help and advice etc... I will let you know thow "the husban" reacts when I actually show him the wig... Tina (Sykesville) |
I hope that by sharing my experience, other women can have the pleasure of the nurturing, uplifting support I received at Crowning Alternatives!
I was diagnosed with breast cancer in December of 2008. I had surgery in February and was scheduled to start chemotherapy in March. The accuracy of when your hair falls out is amazing~ 14 days after your first infusion. And guess what..it actually hurts like you have been wearing a ponytail for too many hours….
Ironically, mine fell out on April Fool’s Day….hmmmmmmmmmmm
We all have to admit that our hair (and our body) helps define our femininity. Therefore, when I was looking at the two week period just before I knew my hair would fall out, fear and sadness overcame my usual optimism. The only resource I had been able to locate was a wig salon at the hospital~and definitely not the place I felt like shopping.
When my girlfriend decided to search for other choices to try, we found Crowning Alternatives on the internet and by chance,
At first I thought I wanted a real hair wig, knowing how much I liked styling my own hair. But after meeting
Having breast cancer puts a woman into so many different modes~and meeting
I came back a few times over the course of my treatment to purchase other wigs, because the fun of the process, seeing Sharon, feeling pretty, was contagious, and every few months, like having your hair done, was FUN! With each visit I would hear wonderful stories of other women and children
Now my hair has begun to grow back, and of course,
